4/28/2020 | BIA COVID-19 UPDATE

4/28/2020 COVID 19 health4/28/2020 – Yesterday evening Governor Beshear detailed how the health care industry would reopen. The briefing provided important dates on when each phase of reopening and information on what was expected during each one of those phases.

He also provided information on testing, listed the testing sites available, and encouraged people to fill those sites. So far that hasn’t been an issue in the Louisville area – most of the appointments at our testing sites are filled well in advance of opening.

One other important requirement was implemented yesterday that directly impacts our industry. By May 11, everyone working for an essential business should be wearing a mask. Many of you and your subs are wearing masks now. However, if you and your subs have not been masked up to this time, as of May 11 you must implement this practice on your site. It doesn’t have to be a medical grade face covering, but some type of face covering will be required.

This practice is in addition to the other job site practices we have listed previously including social distancing, staggering sub contractors on the site, limiting exposure by prohibiting sick people from entering the site, and screening employees for fever or other symptoms.

Remember to also continue to abide by any other OSHA requirements including those related to use of portable toilets and other safety requirements.

As an essential business we have been able to continue working through much of this pandemic. We’ve made changes to our sites and our schedules to accommodate the new safety requirements. Don’t stop now – continue to be an example of how every industry can practice social distancing and limit contact to slow the spread of COVID-19 while we work.

As a reminder – the second wave of SBA opened yesterday. If you intend to apply please contact your banker as soon as possible. These funds are expected to run as as quickly as the first round.

As always, if you have specific concerns or requests, please do not hesitate to email or call me.

Be safe,
