With about 40 clients making up the firm’s workload at any given time, business is brisk. The bulk is in renovation and new construction for commercial and residential clients. Lewis-Sheets said “rightsize” is the new buzzword at her firm. It refers to assisting clients in both segments to create efficient and attractive new spaces as they expand or downsize homes or business operations.
Some design firms focus on either commercial or residential work, but Lewis-Sheets said her crew excels at both by tapping their expereince to select the right artwork, lamps or furniture to elicit a certain feel whether the room is in an office or a home. “We feel we don’t really separate the two,” she said.
A list of recent projects includes work for First Care Dental, Cardinal Pointe Financial Group and Allegra Network, all in Louisville; John Kenyon American Eye Institute, NovaMed Eye Surgery Center and Your Community Bank, all in New Albany; the Clarion Hotel in Clarksville; and Bunch Family Dental in Elizabethtown. LL&A also has been a frequent design work contributor to the annual Homearama new-home showcase and other home shows in the Louisville area. And the firm designed an outdoor living space for this year’s Bellarmine Designers’ Show House, which will be open Sept. 12 to 27 in the Norton Commons development. Its portfolio also includes marine interiors for luxury boats.
In addition to hard work, finding new ways to stay profitable and striving to be a leader in her industry, Lewis-Sheets said she’s found that simply enjoying what you do translates to business success. “Money follows your passion and dedication,” she said.
