Wednesday, February 20, 2013

The Oldham County Council met at the John W. Black Aquatic Center in Buckner on February 20 and welcomed speakers Jim Urban and Brian Davis from the Oldham County Planning and Zoning Department. Carpet Specialists, represented by Chad Turner, and L & N Disposal sponsored the meeting. The Bank Oldham County gave away five prizes of $10 cash to the following winners: Tom Raver of Fireplace Distributors, Phillip Hill of Phillip Hill Homes, Inc., Tim Baker of Farm Credit Mid America, Mike Wedding of Boral Building Products and David Lurding of Lurding Homes, Inc.

Jim Urban and Brian Davis were present to discuss the most recent updates to the Comprehensive Plan. The plan, known as “Outlook 2020,” was initially adopted in 2002, then again in 2007 with few changes. The proposed update for 2013 is a multi-faceted plan with goals in the areas of land use, transportation, community facilities and services, environment, government and business and industry. Additionally, the presentation included the recommended future land use map which gives the community a general idea of what to expect without changing the existing zoning. Attendees as well as all HBAL members were encouraged to submit any comments regarding the plan prior to a meeting of Oldham County government officials held on February 28. The presentation, Outlook 2020 plan and future land use map can be found at www.oldhamcountyky.gov.
