The Shelby County Council met at Claudia Sanders on February 5 and welcomed speaker Kimberly Greenwell, Account Executive at Home Builders Association of Louisville. Carpet Specialists sponsored the meeting, represented by David Turner. We gave away two gift certificates for Claudia Sanders at the meeting, and the winners were Mark Milliner from P. C. Home Center and Arres Reilly from Shelby County High School.
HBAL recognized the Shelby County High School’s Junior Home Builders Club for placing third in the Residential Construction Management category at the International Builders’ Show in January. Additionally, Derek Smothers gave an update on Shelby County real estate trends including an upcoming shift toward a seller’s market.
Greenwell gave a presentation on the value of appropriate and effective networking. She included tips on crafting an elevator speech and ways to enlarge one’s sphere of influence. “Business is all about relationships because people do business with companies they know, like and trust,” she says. Greenwell’s top recommendations are to network with a goal in mind, be specific with your elevator speech and follow up with your connections.
Our next meeting will be held in April.
