According to the 2011 University of Louisville’s Urban Studies Institute study commissioned by the Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau nearly 72 percent of visitors came to Louisville for leisure travel with over 5 million visiting friends and family.
Louisville’s Hometown Tourist Celebration, has been encouraging those friends and family – Indiana and Kentucky – residents to “be a tourist in their own hometown” for more than a decade.
In addition to the 2-for-1 discounts (valid May 6 to 31, 2013) at 55 area attractions, 15 hotels and 14 restaurants, there are a half a dozen events that the public is invited. During the month, the discount offers are valid for anyone with a Kentucky or Indiana ID, local college ID or military ID.
The first event is the annual kick-off and attractions showcase held in conjunction with National Travel Rally Day on May 7, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 4th Street Live!.
