This home received a makeover that practically shouts, “Look, look, look at me!”

Situated on a pleasantly large lot, not typical of the St. Matthews area, the house had many walls that cut off one room from another, limiting design possibilities and making good flow impossible. Far from being a discouraging factor, this issue only inspired the Stonehenge Construction team to discover and implement exciting solutions.

The remodeled front porch now invites visitors to come and enjoy the new Southern style brick porch with new columns and soft blue beadboard ceiling. The added gas lantern lighting on the front porch and back porch shows the attention to detail that this home offers. Integrated into the remodel is a larger screened porch with a French door off the family room and Trex decking overlooking the backyard.

Removing the walls between the living room and dining room, between the dining room and kitchen and between the dining room and stairway demonstrated a remarkable transformation.

The family room took on a new character with the addition of ship lap and the restyling of both fireplaces.

One of the first-floor bedrooms was converted into a powder room, laundry room (relocated from the basement), walk-in closet and master bath with a walk-in shower.

New, lightly stained hardwood flooring was installed throughout the first floor except for the laundry room that has a tile floor.

The new open floor plan now offers the ability to entertainment without confinement. The newly remodeled kitchen has white cabinets, blue island with brass hardware, a solid surface countertop with a marble backsplash and all updated appliances. A unique touch to the kitchen is the floating walnut shelves and butcher block countertop that was made by the homeowner’s father.
