The BIA and SummerWorks Program: A Workforce Development Partnership

Are you looking for a 16-21 year old to hire in the summer?  If so, then the Mayor’s SummerWorks program is for you!

How It Works

BIA is partnering with Mayor Greg Fischer and KentuckianaWorks to encourage our members to hire students ages 16 – 21 for summer employment as part of our workforce development initiatives.  If you’re interested, here is your commitment:

  • At a minimum, you agree to hire a student(s) for a minimum wage position (or higher if you wish) for 30 hours a week for 7 weeks. Students can begin working in early-mid June.
  • Complete the Employer Job Description Form and email it to Chris White by Wednesday, March 23
  • Once you’ve submitted your application, KentuckianaWorks will contact you to determine the best way to refer interested candidates to you
  • You will have the final say in who you want to potentially hire

If you have additional questions or would like further details, please see the SummerWorks Employer Toolkit.

Thank you in advance for you willingness to help us improve our potential skilled workforce pipeline!
